Aboriginal communities in Canada pay the highest prices for food than any other country. The same excuse that has being used for many years is transportation,  meanwhile millions of dollars are spent for gas to transport food to other countries around the world. So much food in Canada is thrown away everyday. Tons of food is wasted daily in Canada. Food banks in non aboriginal communities are full, sometimes there is not enough space for the donations that the food has to get thrown out or sometimes it's sent up north to aboriginal communities to purchase at high prices. Food in restaurants get tossed out because a customer's fry is broken, the whole plate gets tossed out and a whole new meal is made and covered by the business. In Nunavut, North of Canada reports have being investigated where some of the food items are even expired by the time they get to aboriginal communities. Some families wait days for a loaf of bread that cost around ten dollars. 60% of the aboriginal children ages 6 to 12 go to school on an empty stomach. A 12 pack of water in Nunavut can cost up to $104.00. Canadian aboriginal communities are at a crises. Nunavut is just one of the many places in Canada that is in need of a safe food program that does not cost the average family of three $1,800 a month to eat. A child needs nutrients and minerals, veggies and dairy products to learn in school. Why are these aboriginal children in Canada starving while attending school for 6 hours a day?
